Oct. 16: Fall Festival

10 a.m.-1 p.m., Pinon Elementary School Playground

Pumpkin Patch, Carnival games, face painting, food and cider at this free community event! Pumpkins and food available for cash sale. Sponsored by the Pinon PTO.

Oct. 16: Halloween Carnival 

3-6 p.m., Mountain Elementary School, outside, 2280 North Rd. 

Costumes welcome for this family-friendly event featuring outdoor games a prize barn and more! Organized by Mountain Elementary's PTA as a fundraiser. Suggested donation to enter.

Oct. 17 - 31: Pumpkin Patch

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 3:30-7:30 p.m.

Wednesdays from 12:30-7:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sundays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Canyon Complex (corner of Canyon Rd and East Rd)

Beautiful pumpkins of all shapes and sizes will be available for sale. It's a perfect opportunity for a family outing. Have fun picking your own pumpkins at our patch and taking photos at the lovely festive photo booth! NEW this year: a "Pumpkin Palooza" on Saturday Oct 23, 10 AM - 1 PM.  There will be a bounce house, face painting, yard games and handmade crafts made by the choir students themselves.  This is a fundraiser for the talented Middle School and High School choir students.

Oct. 22-Nov. 1: Scarecrow Contest on Central

The annual Downtown Los Alamos Scarecrow Contest will take place along Central Ave. Friday, Oct. 22 - Monday, Nov.1 in downtown Los Alamos. The contest is run by the Los Alamos Arts Council and sponsored and supported by Los Alamos MainStreet and the Los Alamos Creative District.  This year's theme is, "Out of this World." The theme celebrates human fascination with space and its inhabitants, both real and imaginary. Topics under this theme include aliens, robots, sci-fi movies, space creatures, scientists, astronauts, stars and planets. Participants are encouraged but not required to include the theme in their designs.

Oct. 23: Vampire-Themed Blood Drive

2-6 p.m. at the Los Alamos Teen Center, 475 20th St., Los Alamos

Hosted by the Los Alamos Teen Center, local volunteer teen vampires will be ready to collect your blood! To schedule to give blood, or for a plasma scan, visit https://www.vitalant.org;sponsor code LATeen.

4-6 p.m. Trick-or-Treat on MainStreet

Central Ave. in downtown Los Alamos opens to pedestrian-only traffic and businesses and organizations from within and outside the district hand out candy to costumed kids and families. A free, annual Los Alamos tradition! Please note: Masks will be required of all attendees.

5:30 p.m. Pet Costume Parade, hosted by Pet Pangaea

Register your pet HERE! Participants will meet at the elephant statue at Ashley Pond and parade down Central Ave.

6-8 p.m. Halloween at the Library

Outside Mesa Public Library, Los Alamos

A little bit of family Halloween fun outside at dusk after Trick-or-Treat on MainStreet. Play a game of Werewolf with Miss Olivia! Roast a marshmallow and make a s'more! Located in the Outdoor Learning Area between the main library and the Senior Center. Halloween activities for ages 4-14!  

6:30-7:30 p.m. Hauntings of the Atomic City Film Screening

Los Alamos Nature Center Planetarium

Jump into Halloweekend by watching a locally-made, spooky, and zany movie at the Los Alamos Nature Center. Join us for a screening of the documentary Hauntings of the Atomic City. This film, produced by local 2021 Los Alamos High School graduate Gus Yeager, explores the supernatural history and legends of Los Alamos featuring interviews and excursions to rumored haunted sites around the city. Watch the trailer here.

The Nature Center will be open for Halloweekend before the "Hauntings of the Atomic City" showing, featuring some spooky critter show-and-tells and activities. More details here.

Refreshments will also available before the film and doors will open at 6 p.m. This documentary contains some strong language and unsettling images and is not meant for children. Because we have limited seating in the planetarium, please register in advance! Admission: Free.


7 p.m. Fright Night, Presented by LAHS Dance

Duane Smith Auditorium

Presented by Los Alamos High School dance students. 

$15 general admission, $10 students and seniors. Tickets available at the door. 

7-10 p.m. LA Teen Center Halloween Carnival

9 a.m. Trick-or-Trot 5K Fun Run 

10 a.m. Trick-or-Trot Walk (1 mile start/finish)  Barranca Mesa Elementary School (57 Loma Del Escolar)

Wear your Halloween costume, bring the whole family, and join the Barranca Mesa PTO for the annual Trick-or-Trot 5K Fun Run & Walk. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. and the 1 Miler will start at 10 a.m. Choose the distance that works best for you and your family. There will be a “Monster Mash” dance party for all runners and spectators after the running ends. It will include popcorn and cotton candy to purchase, dancing, an award ceremony and prize drawing. Monsters of all fitness levels and ages are welcome to participate. Make your kids earn their candy! Packet pickup will begin at 8 a.m. on October 30 at Barranca Mesa Elementary School before the race begins. Register before October 10th to get a free race t-shirt!

There will be medals for the top 3 finishers in the following categories: Men, Women, Boys, Girls, and Best Costume. The top three fastest boys and girls in the 1 Mile race will also receive medals. All racers who finish will be put in a drawing for some exciting prizes!

Fuller Lodge

In keeping with the Halloweekend theme, students of local music teachers will be performing in costume. Each student will play a short piece on the piano--often a spooky tune. The public is invited to this free, fun and entertaining concert.

Hosted by the Los Alamos Arts Council, come out to experience the community's carved pumpkins, in one festive format!

An annual Los Alamos tradition, Eddy & the Nomads are back, providing live music inside Fuller Lodge during the Pumpkin Glow on the lawn outside.
