Scarecrow Contest on Central

"Movie Monsters" Take Over MainStreet. The Scarecrow Contest will take place along Central Ave. Saturday, Oct. 10-Sunday, Nov.1 in downtown Los Alamos. Applications can be found HERE and more details are available on the Los Alamos Arts Council website.

Pumpkin Glow

The Pumpkin Glow, organized by the Los Alamos Arts Council, is still being finalized for 2020 – but it will be happening! The community brings their carved and decorated pumpkins for everyone to see. In light of the current pandemic, there will be a slightly new setup this year downtown.

Virtual Pet Costume Photo Contest

Monster Mutts & More. Los Alamos Creative District, Los Alamos MainStreet and Pet Pangaea are hosting a Virtual Pet Costume Photo Contest for 2020 – complete with prizes for the cutest & most clever costumed pup (or cat, or chicken, or goat … or whatever furry friend you decide to dress up)! Prizes will be awarded by a judging panel on Halloween, Oct. 31. Stay tuned for more details soon on how to participate. 

Monster Masks Design Contest

We'll be giving out free white face masks as a blank canvas for your spooky Halloween creations! Contest details coming soon. 

Trick-or-Trot: Virtual 5K Run & Walk

Barranca Elementary School PTO is sponsoring a new virtual event, with participants running Oct. 24-31. Proceeds from registration (which includes a t-shirt) will help fund playground equipment. Register by Oct. 7 to make sure you get a shirt. Questions should be directed to barrancamesapto@gmail.com

Film Festival Halloween Movie Rental Special

Get ready for some Halloween horror favorites! Rent 2, get 2 free rentals at Film Festival (3801 Arkansas Ave, #D). Free bag of microwave popcorn with ANY rental. Check out their special family Halloween section, up right now!

Mesa Public Library: Halloween Stories

Los Alamos Halloweekend 2020 will take place Oct. 29-31.

7:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Halloween Farmers' Market, Ashley Pond Park

Come out to the last outdoor Farmers' Market of the season! We'll have some Halloween goodies to hand out (while supplies last) and some spooky ambiance music! Masks are required at the Market.

6-8 p.m. Virtual Pumpkin Carving Party

Join the Los Alamos Arts Council in a fun virtual community event. Join for a short time, or the full 2 hours!

1:00 - 7:00 p.m. - Pumpkin Patch 

Join the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (3700 Canyon Road, Los Alamos) for a pumpkin patch, maze - selfie spot and more. This event begins on Oct. 16 and runs through Oct. 31. Weekday hours are 1-7 p.m. and Weekends 10 a.m.-7 p.m. A Bake Sale will also take place (on Oct. 25 only). Appointments are available for those in need. Call 505-661-8303 for more information or to make an appointment.

5:30 p.m. - Virtual High-Tech Halloween at the Bradbury 

Join the Bradbury Science Museum for ooey, gooey, explosive fun from afar. Join the live Halloween demo via WebEx. While details are being held tightly under wraps for the moment, more information will be released in the weeks to come.

DUSK - Downtown Pumpkin Glow, presented by the Los Alamos Arts Council. Drive-by, or walk Central Ave. for a COVID-safe option to view local carvings! The carved pumpkins will be viewable from Friday, Oct. 30 at 2 pm. until Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. To drop off a pumpkin for the Glow, visit the Los Alamos Arts Council website for details (posted soon).
