More People Downtown, More of the Time

Los Alamos MainStreet hosts several major community events in downtown Los Alamos. We believe that community-building events lead to better quality of life for the entire community. All events are FREE to the public.

Los Alamos ScienceFest ... Goes Virtual!

July 7-12, 2020

ScienceFest, which typically features a week of interactive activities, competitions, speakers, tours, and exhibits to engage the public in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) topics, has gone virtual this year in light of COVID-19. You can still participate in some of your favorite ScienceFest activities, including Discovery Day (with science demos), just in a new online format in 2020!

Halloweekend

October 29-31, 2020

Halloweekend is typically anchored by Trick-or-Treat on MainStreet, a wildly popular event that turns Central Avenue into a ghoulish pedestrian area. Due to the current pandemic, however, we are changing things up this year. Check out our schedule for the latest COVID-safe activities!

Following the best practices as established by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, we have standing committees that implement all our projects. We invite you to join our volunteer corps, a wonderful group of individuals, students and

community leaders. Meet new friends, try out new skills and have fun as you help support the MainStreet District. Opportunities range from volunteering for specific events to joining one of our Creative District committees.
